A device is being developed that utilizes nano-sensor technology to detect heart rate variability (HRV) as a biomarker for epileptic seizures. This device consists of two components: one to detect HRV and send a signal, and the other to release an antiepileptic drug (Midazolam) to prevent seizures before they occur. The device includes a HRV-sensitive hydrogel microneedle patch with a loading dose of the drug for immediate release and electroresponsive nanoparticles for controlled release. The aim is to improve seizure control and enhance the quality of life for individuals with epilepsy by providing proactive and automated intervention. This project integrates various disciplines such as Health Sciences, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Material Sciences to optimize patient care.
